About Amanda

Amanda kennedy

owner / Teacher / Mom

Amanda’s teaching career began in the School District of Philadelphia 23 years ago. Working as a kindergarten teacher for over seven years created the opportunity to share her love of literacy with students in a literacy rich and safe classroom environment.

Next, Amanda’s educational journey led her to Children's Literacy Initiative, where she worked as a Professional Developer and Early Literacy Specialist.  Her role in those positions was to collaborate with kindergarten through third grade teachers planning, delivering, and reflecting on lessons taught to their classrooms, as well as creating and delivering professional development on research-based literacy practices.

Amanda was most recently the Director of Thrive Literacy Center, in Haddonfield, NJ for the past two years where she enriched children’s passion for reading and writing.

Amanda is excited for this next chapter as the Owner Director and Teacher at The Hive. As the enthusiastic owner of The Hive, a Literacy-based education center for early learners she hopes to provide each child with the foundational skills to launch their life-long journey by instilling the love of reading. With her educational background and passion for teaching, Amanda has created a space where children receive research-based instruction tailored to their individual needs. Her commitment to the importance of early literacy development, is the driving force behind what sets Hive Literacy apart as a welcoming and effective learning environment for all young learners.
